“Say Her Name” Poster
In honor of Mahsa Jina Amini.
The Woman, Life, Freedom (زن٬ زندگی٬ آزادی) movement in Iran, although not successful in the end, carried a message worth remembering: Women are the root of life, and they should be free. Jina was killed at 22, but her name is now what unites us.
Artist’s Note:
I created this poster for the 3rd year of Jina being no longer with us. The truth is, I wanted the poster to be something more, and you'd be right to call me out and say I had 3 years to make it so. But it's also true that for the first year and a half I was devastated, practically had no life, hearing the terrible news every day. And the remainder of the time... I guess this was one of those times that my pain couldn't be translated into something truly great. However, I still wanted to create something, to remember her and every single beautiful person the Islamic Republic of Iran took from us.
